Storm damage roof repair in Baytown

What storms do to roofs here
Wind lifts shingles, breaks their seal and tears some off; hail cracks shingles and knocks off the granules that protect them; branches and debris punch holes.

Insurance basics from the Texas Department of Insurance
Your policy pays either replacement cost or actual cash value; actual cash value takes off for the age of the roof. Some insurers switch older roofs to actual cash value at renewal, and a roof in poor condition may not be covered. Hurricane and windstorm deductibles can be a percentage of the home's value rather than a flat amount, so check your declarations page. We don't handle insurance claims; we repair the roof and can tell you what we found. More in does home insurance cover a roof leak in Texas?.
Storm chasers: the Texas rules
- It is illegal in Texas for a contractor to offer to waive or pay your deductible, or to work it into the bid. Report it to the Texas Attorney General at 800-621-0508.
- After a disaster, out-of-town contractors may not ask for a down payment before they start work.
- Contracts paid by insurance for $1,000 or more must carry a notice required by Texas Business and Commerce Code §27.02.
- Be careful with door-knockers who offer a free tarp if you sign an agreement about your claim.

Windstorm inspection near the bay
In the Harris County cities east of State Highway 146 (La Porte, Morgan's Point, Pasadena, Seabrook and Shore Acres), storm repairs may need to meet the building code and pass a windstorm inspection, and the Texas Department of Insurance then issues a Certificate of Compliance (WPI-8). Repairs under 100 square feet that don't involve the decking don't need an inspection. See roof repair in La Porte and roof repair in Pasadena for how this works there.
